Dans l'après-midi du 25 juillet 2022, une journée exceptionnellement chaude avec des températures maximales atteignant près de 24 °C à environ 2000 m d'altitude, un orage local extrême au Piz Nair au-dessus de Buffalora (Engadine, Suisse) a déclenché une lave torrentielle. Celle-ci a touché la forêt, les infrastructures et la route, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur du Parc National Suisse. D'après l'âge des arbres touchés, on estime qu'aucune perturbation de ce type ne s'était produite dans cette zone au cours des 130 dernières années. Les quantités de précipitations confirment cette estimation: la station météorologique de Buffalora a enregistré 25,8 mm de précipitations en seulement 60 minutes dans l'après-midi du 25 juillet 2022. Des quantités de précipitations de cette ampleur en si peu de temps ne se produisent en moyenne que tous les 50 à 100 ans dans ce site intra-alpin sec. De manière générale, la quantité de précipitations intenses journalières a augmenté d'environ 12% en Suisse au cours des cent dernières années. On the afternoon of July 25, 2022, an exceptionally hot day with maximum temperatures reaching nearly 24 °C at around 2,000 m altitude, an extreme local thunderstorm at Piz Nair above Buffalora (Engadine, Switzerland) triggered a debris flow. It affected the forest, infrastructure, and the road, both inside and outside the Swiss National Park. Based on the age of the trees impacted, it is estimated that no disturbance of this kind had occurred in this area over the past 130 years. The precipitation amounts confirm this estimate: the Buffalora weather station recorded 25.8 mm of rainfall in just 60 minutes on the afternoon of July 25, 2022. Rainfall of this magnitude in such a short time occurs on average only once every 50 to 100 years at this dry intra-Alpine site. More generally, the amount of daily intense precipitation has increased by about 12 % in Switzerland over the past century. Questa ha colpito il bosco, le infrastrutture e la strada, all’interno e all’esterno del Parco Nazionale Svizzero. In base all’età degli alberi colpiti, si stima che negli ultimi 130 anni non si fosse verificato alcun evento di questo tipo in quest’area. Anche le quantità di precipitazioni confermano questa stima: la stazione meteorologica di Buffalora ha registrato 25,8 mm di precipitazioni in soli 60 minuti nel pomeriggio del 25 luglio 2022. Quantità di precipitazioni di tale entità in un lasso di tempo così breve si verificano mediamente solo ogni 50–100 anni in questo sito intralpino secco. In generale, la quantità di precipitazioni intense giornaliere è aumentata di circa il 12% in Svizzera negli ultimi cento anni. Juli 2022, einem aussergewöhnlich heissen Tag mit Höchsttemperaturen von fast 24 °C in rund 2000 m Höhe, löste ein extremes lokales Gewitter am Piz Nair oberhalb von Buffalora (Engadin, Schweiz) eine Murganglawine aus. Diese traf den Wald, die Infrastruktur und die Strasse innerhalb und ausserhalb des Schweizerischen Nationalparks. Aufgrund des Alters der betroffenen Bäume wird geschätzt, dass es in diesem Gebiet in den letzten 130 Jahren zu keinem Ereignis dieser Art gekommen war. Die Niederschlagsmengen bestätigen diese Einschätzung: Die Wetterstation Buffalora verzeichnete am Nachmittag des 25. Juli 2022 innerhalb von nur 60 Minuten 25,8 mm Niederschlag. Niederschlagsmengen dieser Grössenordnung in so kurzer Zeit treten an diesem trockenen inneralpinen Standort im Durchschnitt nur alle 50 bis 100 Jahre auf. Generell hat die Menge an täglichen Starkniederschlägen in der Schweiz in den letzten hundert Jahren um etwa 12 % zugenommen.
